From the Founder

Michael North

Rooted in Experience. Built on Integrity. Designed with Heart.

When I founded North Homes in 2002, I set out to do more than build beautiful custom homes. I set out to build lasting relationships rooted in trust, craftsmanship, and care.

My journey began on the north side of Indianapolis, where I grew up watching my father run his own mechanical contracting company. I was on job sites before I could drive, learning firsthand the value of precision, hard work, and integrity. That early exposure turned into a lifelong passion, eventually leading me to earn a degree in Construction Technology from Purdue University.

After college, I sharpened my skills in commercial construction, gaining invaluable experience in cost control, scheduling, and project management. From there, I stepped into the world of residential construction. First as a senior project manager, then as a co-founder of a successful semi-custom homebuilding company. Along the way, I also earned my Master’s degree in Business Management and became a licensed real estate agent.

These years of hands-on experience have shaped the philosophy behind North Homes: a custom homebuilding experience where quality, transparency, and personal involvement are not just promised—they’re delivered. I’m directly involved in every phase of the process, from initial design and budgeting to final walkthroughs and long-term client care. When you work with North, you’re working with me.

Outside of work, I’ve been happily married to my wife, Charlene, since 1985. I’m a proud dad and an even prouder grandpa, and when I’m not on-site or in the design studio, you’ll find me golfing, fishing, traveling, or chasing grandkids.

At North Custom Homes, you’ll never feel like just a number because every home is personal to us. Every client is family.
